Job Summary
Crafting atmospheric and dread-soaked lighting, the Contract Lighting Artist will work remotely on a contract basis to design and implement optimized lighting across game environments, collaborating with various teams to enhance the visual storytelling of the indie horror game franchise.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement optimized lighting using Unreal Engine's GPU Lightmass workflows to enhance mood and narrative
- Collaborate with environment, VFX, and art direction teams to maintain visual consistency across game chapters
- Develop and maintain lighting standards, style guides, and best-practice documentation for the team
Required qualifications
- 4+ years of games industry experience with at least one shipped title
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 lighting and GPU Lightmass pipeline
- Strong understanding of real-world lighting, photography, and cinematography principles
- Proven ability to create horror, suspense, or atmospheric lighting styles
- Experience optimizing lighting for real-time performance on PC and console
