Contributing Art Director

Job Summary

Working remotely on a contract basis, the Contributing Art Director will create engaging visuals, manage design projects, and collaborate with the Art Director and editorial staff to enhance storytelling for a large audience of educators and parents.

Key Responsibilities

• Create visually engaging custom photo collages and artwork to illustrate stories on deadline
• Commission and direct illustrations and photos for web articles while managing multiple design projects
• Collaborate with editorial staff to ensure high-quality, relevant visuals across the site and social media feeds

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 5+ years of experience in an editorial or publishing environment with a strong portfolio
• Dependable availability during critical work hours on the East or West Coast
• Experience art directing multiple external artists simultaneously
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and Figma
