Job Summary

To support financial operations in a nonprofit environment, the remote Controller will manage financial reporting, budget oversight, and compliance while ensuring the integrity of accounting practices and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements and lead the annual budgeting process while monitoring performance against budget
• Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities to maintain accurate financial records
• Lead the annual financial audit and ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA certification and/or Master's degree strongly preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible accounting and financial management experience in a nonprofit environment
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial compliance requirements
• Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems; experience with Sage, BILL, and Concur strongly preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas and financial reporting tools
