Job Summary
A company is looking for a Coding Specialist I for the Outpatient Ambulatory Surgery Unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and compliant medical coding for outpatient surgeries by assigning appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes
- Review medical record documentation to identify diagnoses and procedures, maintaining departmental accuracy standards
- Participate in quality and service improvement teams while adhering to compliance regulations and departmental policies
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a coding-related field preferred
- Minimum of 1-2 years of ASU coding experience
- Coding certification (CPC, CCA) required within 1 year; RHIT or RHIA preferred
- Courses in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, ICD-CM required; CPT-4 preferred
- Experience with clinical information systems preferred
