CPC Certified Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support the coding team, the full-time remote CPC Certified Coding Specialist will interpret medical record data, assign appropriate codes, and oversee the workflow and training of coding staff while ensuring quality assurance in coding practices.

Key responsibilities:

• Distributes and monitors the flow of work for coding staff, providing training and technical assistance
• Acts as a department resource for special projects and responds to coding-related inquiries
• Performs analysis on medical record documentation and abstracts required codes into the computer system

Required qualifications:

• High School education plus medical coding certification from an accredited program (e.g., AHIMA, NHA, AAPC)
• CPC certification and experience in IR coding
• Five years of medical abstraction and coding experience or related work experience
• Knowledge of ICD-CM and CPT HCPCS coding systems, along with federal/state guidelines
• Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
