CPC Certified Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a growing team, the remote Production Coding Specialist II will abstract and code complex surgical procedures, ensuring accuracy in CPT and ICD10 coding while meeting departmental KPIs and adhering to coding guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Abstracts and codes surgical procedures from CPT, crosswalking to ASA codes and applying appropriate modifiers
• Reviews medical documentation for required elements and identifies care team providers while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines
• Handles coding rejections, processes coder requests for information, and works with IDX edits and claim denials

Required qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent
• 3-5 years of surgical coding experience and at least 2 years of anesthesia coding experience
• Current CPC certification is required; CANPC is a plus
• Experience with multiple EMRs and documentation types
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe PDF
