CPC Certified Medical Coder

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the CPC Certified Medical Coder will review medical records to ensure accurate diagnosis coding in compliance with ICD-10 guidelines, while meeting production targets and supporting quality audits.

Key responsibilities

• Review inpatient and outpatient medical records to assign relevant diagnosis codes using ICD-10 classification systems
• Validate provider and vendor-submitted documentation and diagnosis codes to identify and correct inaccuracies
• Document coder observations and assist in provider audit presentations by answering diagnosis coding questions

Required qualifications

• 2+ years of related work experience
• High school diploma or GED
• Active CPC certification from AAPC or CCSP from AHIMA
• Proficient with ICD-10-CM Guidelines for coding and reporting
• Intermediate level of Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
