CPC Certified Medical Coder

Job Summary

To support a growing physician practice, the part-time per diem CPC Certified Medical Coder will abstract clinical information and assign CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes from medical records, ensuring accurate billing for outpatient services while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Abstract billing for outpatient evaluation and management codes and minor surgical procedures from provider documentation
• Research coding/billing issues and recommend appropriate methods of coding/billing
• Analyze medical records for coding appropriateness and collaborate with Coding/Charge/Audit Analysts to resolve issues

Required qualifications

• CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification required
• Minimum of two years of records coding experience or equivalent education
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology and Medical terminology required
• Previous experience with an electronic legal health record system preferred
