Credit Balance Manager

Job Summary

Managing credit balances for hospital and clinic operations, the full-time Credit Balance Manager will analyze and resolve patient account discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance, while leading a team dedicated to efficient refund processes in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and investigate credit balances from various revenue sources, identifying causes such as duplicate payments and billing errors
• Collaborate with patient financial services, billing, and clinical departments to reconcile and resolve credit balances accurately and timely
• Supervise and mentor a team focused on credit balance research and resolution across inpatient and outpatient services

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred, or a High School Diploma with 10 years of experience in Healthcare Revenue Cycle
• 5 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, accounts receivable, or credit balance management within hospital and outpatient clinic settings
• Familiarity with hospital billing systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and outpatient practice management software
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment for 5+ years
• In-depth understanding of regulatory compliance including CMS, HIPAA, and False Claims Act as applied to hospital and outpatient billing
