Crisis Line Volunteer

Job Summary

Providing essential support to individuals in crisis, the part-time Crisis Line Volunteer will answer calls for approximately 10 hours per month, offering emotional support and adhering to performance measures while maintaining confidentiality and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Answer crisis calls from individuals seeking emotional support, including those at risk of suicide
• Document completed calls accurately and participate in staff meetings and supervision as schedule permits
• Attend continuing education and training as needed to enhance crisis intervention skills

Required qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High school graduate or GED equivalent required
• Minimum of two years of professional experience preferred, with crisis helpline experience as a plus
• Ability to engage in empathetic, non-judgmental listening and maintain confidentiality
• Successful completion of the Volunteer Crisis Line Associate Training after hire
