Job Summary
To support a major modernization initiative within the Department of Veterans Affairs, a skilled Cyber Security Engineer will work remotely on a full-time basis, focusing on cybersecurity engineering, risk management, and security modernization efforts for healthcare systems and infrastructure.
Key responsibilities:
- Support cybersecurity engineering for cloud security, compliance documentation, and continuous monitoring
- Secure AWS environments through identity management, encryption, vulnerability management, and configuration hardening
- Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate security requirements into architecture, sprint planning, and deployment readiness
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of cybersecurity engineering experience in federal, cloud, healthcare, or regulated environments
- Experience securing AWS cloud environments and familiarity with AWS security services
- Hands-on experience with RMF, ATO, and federal compliance activities
- Knowledge of NIST RMF, NIST SP 800-53 controls, and federal cybersecurity requirements
