Data Center Migration Project Manager

Job Summary

To support a critical infrastructure resiliency program, the contract Data Center Migration Project Manager will oversee the migration of technology systems from aging facilities to a new hosting location, coordinating with technical teams, leadership, and vendors while managing project schedules, risks, and communications, either onsite in Pierre, South Dakota, or remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the physical migration of compute, storage, and network infrastructure, developing and maintaining project schedules and controls
• Coordinate with BIT leadership and various teams to ensure operational readiness of the new facility, including power, cooling, and security measures
• Manage vendor deliverables and compliance, while maintaining clear communications with stakeholders and documenting project progress

Required qualifications

• 5-7 years of IT Project Management experience, including managing schedules, budgets, and project documentation
• Direct experience leading data center migration projects, overseeing physical relocations and interdependencies
• Experience with data center or facility readiness activities, including power and cooling systems
• Proven ability to manage structured testing and vendor compliance with security policies
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required
