Data Engineer
Job Summary
Supporting the National Training and Support Program (NTSP) Quality and Data Informatics initiative, the full-time Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes to enhance healthcare analytics for the Department of Veterans Affairs, working in a complex, multi-source healthcare data environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes for cloud-based data environments
- Implement patient-matching and record-linkage logic to ensure accurate and deduplicated Veteran data across various systems
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data engineering solutions, including Power BI report development
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, including ETL/ELT pipeline design and cloud environments
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field, or 13+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- Prior experience supporting federal agency programs, preferably within the Department of Veterans Affairs
- Ability to obtain and maintain a VA Position of Public Trust clearance
- Demonstrated proficiency in SQL or Spark SQL for data transformation and querying
