Data Engineer

Job Summary

Designing and governing data architecture for unstructured knowledge assets, the full-time Staff Engineer - Data Engineer will create logical and physical data models, establish metadata standards, and collaborate with data engineering teams while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Design logical and physical data models for unstructured and semi-structured content from Knowledge Management pipelines
• Define domain boundaries and ownership for data products, determining reusable data products versus raw assets
• Establish metadata standards and tagging taxonomies to ensure consistent classification across knowledge sources

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, or information architecture, particularly with unstructured or semi-structured data
• Direct experience in Knowledge Management, content management, or enterprise search domains
• Hands-on experience with a modern data catalog, preferably Databricks Unity Catalog
• Practical knowledge of metadata management, including tagging schemas and taxonomies
• Understanding of data security and sensitivity classification frameworks in a lakehouse environment
