Data Engineer with GCP Expertise

Job Summary

To support the implementation of the Globus Managed File Transfer platform, the remote Data Engineer with GCP Expertise will configure and operationalize data transfer workflows, manage large-scale data transfers, and provide Tier 1/2 operational support while ensuring compliance with security standards.

Key responsibilities

• Complete Globus Connect Server deployment and configure storage gateways
• Onboard research users and maintain platform health while optimizing performance
• Collaborate with internal teams to establish operational processes and deliver documentation for long-term ownership

Required qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with the Globus platform (GCS v5, endpoints, collections)
• Strong knowledge of GCP services including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, and IAM
• Proficiency in Linux system administration and scripting (Bash)
• Understanding of GridFTP and high-throughput data transfers
• Experience in MFT or large-scale data transfer environments
