Job Summary
Working remotely on a contract basis, the part-time Data Operations Support Engineer will manage big data operations in AWS, focusing on monitoring batch processing, automating data monitoring with Python, and maintaining enterprise Linux infrastructure during night shifts from 11 PM to 7 AM, with occasional weekend support.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and manage big data operations activities in AWS, ensuring efficient processing and issue remediation
- Automate data monitoring and batch scheduling using Python scripting and central processing tools
- Document test plans and implement monitoring tools for Linux systems and cloud resources to optimize performance
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with at least five years of relevant experience
- Experience with AWS services, SQL, and database management, including Postgres and Oracle
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash, with knowledge of CI/CD pipeline tools like Jenkins and GitLab
- Strong background in systems administration for both Linux and Windows operating systems
- Familiarity with monitoring and diagnostic tools, as well as operational practices like change management and incident management
