Job Summary
To support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the part-time remote Subject Matter Expert in Research Confidentiality & Data Protection will ensure the confidentiality and regulatory integrity of national health data by reviewing consent language, disclosure protocols, and microdata releases.
Key responsibilities
- Confirm confidentiality, legal authority, and privacy protections comply with federal laws and agency requirements, identifying gaps and recommending changes
- Review proposed data collections to ensure compliance with OMB statements on confidentiality and privacy protections
- Provide high-level statistical disclosure reviews of microdata files and/or tables prior to public release
Required qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in health sciences, social sciences, statistics, or a related field
- Regulatory literacy in 45 CFR 46 and IRB procedures, including informed consent scenarios
- Working knowledge of the Paperwork Reduction Act and OMB regulations
- Familiarity with statistical disclosure limitation methods for microdata files and frequency tables
- Ability to pass a federal Public Trust background investigation
