Job Summary

Seeking a skilled Data Scientist, the full-time position will support AI Strategy, Governance, and Operations initiatives within the Department of Veterans Affairs, focusing on designing and evaluating AI/ML solutions for healthcare operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evaluate AI/ML solution approaches tailored to VA healthcare operations, assessing technical feasibility and alignment with mission objectives
• Conduct assessments of existing and proposed AI/ML models, evaluating accuracy, bias, fairness, and explainability
• Collaborate with VA stakeholders to translate operational healthcare challenges into well-scoped AI/ML problem statements and solution roadmaps

Required qualifications

• Demonstrated experience designing and evaluating AI/ML solutions in production or enterprise environments
• Ability to obtain and maintain VA network access and a Position of Public Trust designation
• Prior experience supporting federal agency clients or healthcare organizations is preferred
• Proficiency with AI/ML frameworks and tools such as Python, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; this position does not offer visa sponsorship
