Job Summary
Supporting the modernization and maintenance of biomedical terminology and data standards, the full-time Data Standards Programmer will develop applications and automated data pipelines while working in a hybrid environment in Bethesda, MD.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain code for automating the processing of major medical terminologies such as UMLS, SNOMED CT, and RxNorm
- Design and build automated application and ETL pipelines for biomedical terminology and clinical research data
- Implement and maintain RESTful APIs and FHIR servers to support healthcare and biomedical terminology services
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Informatics, or a closely related discipline
- Minimum of five years of relevant hands-on experience for the Intermediate and Data Standards Programmer positions; ten years for the Principal position
- Demonstrated experience with biomedical or healthcare terminology systems such as UMLS, RxNorm, and SNOMED CT
- Experience with HL7, FHIR, and related interoperability standards
- Programming experience using Java, Python, Perl, or comparable languages
