Database Administrator

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Database Administrator III, this full-time position can be performed remotely or from State College, PA, and is responsible for managing SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases, ensuring their performance, security, and reliability while supporting the modernization of database infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases, focusing on performance tuning, query optimization, and execution plan analysis
• Design and implement backup, replication, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure high availability across production environments
• Collaborate with engineering teams to establish database standards and proactively address reliability and performance concerns

Required Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in database administration or data operations, or MS with 3+ years of experience
• Demonstrated experience with SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and capacity planning
• Advanced proficiency in SQL/T-SQL and knowledge of a scripting language (Python or PowerShell) for database automation
• Experience with migrating databases to cloud-based environments, particularly Microsoft Azure
• Ability to design and implement monitoring solutions for database health and performance
