Database Consultant CockroachDB

Job Summary

To support a growing CockroachDB consulting practice, the full-time Database Consultant will manage the reliability and performance of mission-critical CockroachDB infrastructure, develop automated systems to enhance operational efficiency, and act as a technical mentor while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a primary technical consultant for project-based and long-term CockroachDB support
• Design and implement operational workflows for CockroachDB support channels, ensuring adherence to SLAs
• Manage the full CockroachDB Cluster Lifecycle, including backups, disaster recovery, and capacity planning

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) or Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
• Advanced experience with CockroachDB and intermediate-level experience with a secondary relational database (e.g., PostgreSQL or MySQL)
• Proven experience migrating legacy databases to a distributed SQL system like CockroachDB
• Advanced SQL and optimization knowledge, including query tuning and schema/index design
• Deep scripting and automation skills in languages such as Python, Go, and Bash
