Database Engineer

Job Summary

To support critical environmental research, the full-time Database Engineer will design, support, and optimize data systems, ensuring efficient storage and management of large datasets in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage PostgreSQL databases and optimize SQL workflows for high-performance data processing
• Develop scalable solutions for data orchestration, automation, and operational reliability
• Utilize Python for automating data workflows and implement CI/CD practices for database provisioning

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or 4 years of relevant experience with active IT certifications, or 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree
• Experience in writing efficient SQL and managing PostgreSQL databases with large datasets
• Proficiency in Python for improving data management efficiency
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices, including GitLab or GitHub for version control and deployment
• Comfortable using AWS services such as EC2, S3, and RDS for cloud-based applications and databases
