Job Summary
To support a large non-profit organization, the full-time DC Licensed Assistant General Counsel will provide legal guidance on contracts, compliance, and litigation support while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Serves as a primary legal resource for divisions and business units, providing day-to-day legal guidance and risk management advice
- Owns the contract review process, including drafting and negotiating various operational agreements
- Provides legal support for government and private grants, ensuring compliance with funding agreements and obligations
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school and a member in good standing of the District of Columbia Bar or eligible for waiver
- Minimum of five years of legal experience, with a preference for seven years in non-profit, governance, and contracts
- Experience in litigation support and familiarity with election law and tax-exemption compliance preferred
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and collaborative skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal workflow management tools
