DC Licensed Counsel
Job Summary
Leading legal efforts for solar and battery energy storage projects, the remote DC Licensed Counsel will manage project acquisitions, support development and procurement activities, and negotiate various contracts while collaborating with internal teams and external counsel.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee M&A activities including negotiation, due diligence, and engagement of local counsel
- Support project development and procurement by negotiating revenue contracts and executing purchase orders
- Lead negotiations for project finance agreements and operational contracts during the asset management phase
Required qualifications
- 7-9 years of post-admission experience in the renewable industry, preferably from a law firm or energy development company
- Deep expertise in key legal workstreams related to energy projects
- Strong understanding of contract fundamentals and commercial decision-making
- Intellectual curiosity and ability to navigate complex energy industry challenges
- Experience in an in-house legal department is a significant plus
