DE/SAR Underwriter

Job Summary

With over 5 years of experience in underwriting FHA, VA, or Bond loans, the remote DE/SAR Underwriter will review documentation to assess borrower creditworthiness, ensure compliance with investor guidelines, and mentor processing staff while managing a caseload of 2-3 new files daily.

Key responsibilities

• Diligently review credit, income, and asset documentation to determine borrower creditworthiness
• Analyze property appraisal reports and complex loans, including self-employed borrowers
• Collaborate with team members to ensure quality deals are successfully funded

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
• 5+ years of underwriting experience with conventional and government loans
• DE & SAR certification required
• Thorough knowledge of FHA, VA, and investor guidelines
• Proficiency in loan origination systems, preferably Encompass
