Job Summary

A company is looking for a Deputy Managing Editor for the Daily Desk, responsible for enhancing daily sports journalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a lead editor for daily news reports, especially during peak sports times
• Edit and publish stories from various sportswriters and collaborate on breaking news coverage
• Manage staff and coordinate with vertical editors to maintain quality and coverage standards

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in editing news stories, particularly breaking news
• Strong copy editing experience with a track record of improving stories
• Management experience overseeing editors and/or reporters is preferred
• Familiarity with social media platforms for news gathering
• Ability to work nights and weekends, with a strong interest in various sports
