Design Apprentice

Job Summary

To gain hands-on experience in design within the publishing industry, the part-time hourly Design Apprentice will work remotely for 15 hours a week, contributing to the design of book covers and jackets across multiple imprints while collaborating with Art Directors and other departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and design multiple front covers and mechanicals
• Assist with book cover design, repackaging, and other creative projects as assigned
• Support and collaborate with supervising Art Director(s) on research, layouts, and presentations

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in design or related areas
• Proficiency with the MAC environment and the Adobe Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator
• Strong layout and typography skills, with a passion for book design
• Highly organized, flexible, and detail-oriented with strong time management abilities
• Previous experience in book publishing is preferred but not required
