Job Summary

Supporting the education and success of international students, the part-time hourly International Student Advisor (ISA) will provide comprehensive advising on immigration, employment, and academic matters while ensuring compliance with university policies and federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Process and sign immigration documents for F-1 visa holders, including employment authorizations and program extensions
• Manage SEVIS records and oversee immigration data to ensure compliance with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) guidelines
• Advise international students on maintaining legal non-immigrant status and support their retention and progress toward graduation

Required qualifications

• Eligibility for certification by DHS as a Designated School Official (DSO); must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
• Master's degree and/or equivalent related experience preferred
• Prior experience working with international student populations in a higher education setting
• Demonstrated proficiency using the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS)
• Experience providing virtual advising and student support
