DevOps Engineer

Job Summary

As a full-time remote DevOps Engineer, the Enterprise Systems Engineer V will design, deploy, and manage a secure AI workflow infrastructure, ensuring operational reliability and governance while enhancing automation capabilities across Avalara's platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical infrastructure for AI workflow tools, ensuring resilience, scalability, and cost-effectiveness
• Embed security and compliance into AI workflows, implementing governance practices to safeguard production environments
• Define and drive operational metrics and observability for the AI workflow platform, systematically improving incident response and reliability

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 5-8+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering for SaaS or large-scale distributed systems
• Strong expertise with a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent)
• Proven ownership of CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing and security scanning
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools in engineering or operations with measurable impact on performance
