Director of Accounting

Job Summary

Seeking a founding leader, the full-time Director of Accounting will architect and modernize accounting systems, transitioning the function in-house while driving automation and AI integration to enhance financial processes in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Modernize the finance stack by implementing an AI-native ERP and integrating it with existing tools
• Transition the full accounting function from an outsourced firm to internal ownership
• Re-engineer processes to achieve a monthly close by Business Day 10, with a goal of reaching Business Day 5

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of accounting experience, including 4 years managing the close at a high-growth, venture-backed startup
• Experience implementing or operating an AI-native ERP and familiarity with tools like Brex, Bill.com, and Stripe
• Hands-on approach with a desire to automate and teach accounting processes
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on understanding the implications behind financial data
• CPA preferred, with a background in Big 4 accounting considered a significant advantage
