Director of AI Harness Engineering
Job Summary
Leading a new discipline in AI coding, the full-time Director of AI Harness Engineering will design and build harness components, manage a geographically distributed team, and establish quality standards for AI-assisted engineering in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design and evolve the harness that guides AI coding agents towards producing reliable, maintainable output
- Build and maintain feedback mechanisms and governance standards to ensure AI-generated work meets quality and compliance thresholds
- Manage and grow a team of harness engineers while collaborating with stakeholders to align engineering practices across the organization
Required qualifications
- Strong software engineering background with hands-on experience in large, complex codebases
- Experience with AI coding agents and building engineering tooling across modern stacks
- Proven ability to establish AI governance and cross-organizational quality standards
- Demonstrated experience managing geographically distributed engineering teams
- Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience in software architecture and development
