Director of AWS Engineering
Job Summary
Leading the AWS Public Cloud (Platform Services) team, the full-time Director of AWS Engineering will define and implement strategic cloud services, enhance the EKS platform, and collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines to optimize AWS infrastructure and spending.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the AWS platform engineering team to improve the Amex EKS Platform and customer experience
- Partner with security and application teams to establish cloud best practices and optimize AWS services
- Produce executive-level reports and insights to inform senior leadership decisions
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
- 15+ years of engineering leadership experience, including 8+ years in AWS with large teams
- Deep understanding of cloud technologies and experience with orchestration and automation tools
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus and Splunk
