Director of Certifications

Job Summary

Leading the development of a strategic certification initiative, the full-time remote Director of Certifications will define the program's structure, integrate it with product capabilities, and ensure it scales to reach millions of learners while maintaining credibility and rigor.

Key responsibilities

• Own and lead the certification initiative as a company-wide program, defining its structure and roadmap
• Develop frameworks for evaluating practical AI capability and ensure certifications reflect real product usage
• Partner with product teams to integrate certification systems with OpenAI's platform and educational tools

Required qualifications

• Experience leading large, cross-functional strategic initiatives involving product and education teams
• Proven ability to influence multiple teams and senior leaders without direct authority
• Experience building large-scale learning or credential systems
• Familiarity with developer platforms, AI systems, or emerging technology ecosystems
• Comfort in defining new programs where the operating model does not yet exist
