Job Summary
Leading advocacy communications strategies, the full-time salaried Director of Communications will develop compelling messaging and campaign materials to advance the Association's public policy agenda, mobilize the ALS advocacy community, and support various organizational priorities, while working remotely within the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the Association's advocacy communications strategy and create mission-driven content to mobilize the advocacy community
- Develop messaging and materials for Capitol Hill engagement, including fact sheets and action alerts
- Collaborate with various teams to produce content that supports people living with ALS and strengthens donor communications
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Political Science, Public Policy, Government, Journalism, or a related field preferred
- 8-10 years of progressive communications experience with a focus on advocacy and public affairs communications
- Capitol Hill experience with a strong understanding of the federal legislative process
- Proven track record of producing advocacy materials and campaigns that influence policymakers
- Experience leading coalition communications and mobilizing diverse audiences around policy goals
