Director of Data Engineering

Job Summary

Leading the engineering division of the Data and Analytics organization, the full-time remote Director of Data Engineering will define the technical roadmap, manage a team of engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional leaders to ensure data infrastructure supports business objectives and AI integration.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical roadmap for data platform and analytics engineering, ensuring seamless data ingestion, transformation, and modeling
• Lead and develop engineering managers and their teams, fostering a high-performance culture and effective planning
• Serve as the primary liaison for data engineering across various departments, translating business needs into engineering priorities

Required qualifications

• 8-10+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering roles, with at least 5 years in people management
• Strong technical credibility in data platform and analytics engineering, with experience in dbt and Databricks
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple teams or workstreams simultaneously in a technology company
• Proven ability to prioritize across competing demands and translate technical complexity for non-technical stakeholders
• AI native mindset, actively using AI tools and understanding their impact on data engineering practices
