Director of Data Engineering

Job Summary

Leading a growing data organization, the full-time remote Director of Data Engineering will design and implement data pipelines, establish data strategy and architecture, and manage a team while remaining hands-on in coding and technical execution.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and debug high-impact data pipelines connecting business systems to the Snowflake warehouse
• Own the data strategy and architecture while maintaining hands-on familiarity with systems and their edge cases
• Build and lead a multidisciplinary Data organization, managing headcount planning, hiring strategy, and budget

Required qualifications

• 8+ years in data or software engineering, including 4+ years managing engineers
• Experience building and leading a data organization of 5+ people across data, ML, and analytics
• Advanced SQL and Python skills, with hands-on experience in Snowflake or equivalent
• Direct experience setting AI and LLM enablement strategy and building with LLM tooling
• Comfortable operating at a Director level, owning budgets and advocating for roadmaps while being technically involved
