Director of Data Governance

Job Summary

Leading the governance function within the Enterprise Data Platform organization, the full-time Director of Data Governance will redefine governance as an enabler, manage the data catalog and business glossary, and establish data certification standards while working in a flexible hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Redefine governance at Surescripts, shifting from policy enforcement to a capability that enhances team efficiency
• Own the strategy and operation of the data catalog and business glossary, ensuring discoverability and trust of data assets
• Define and manage the data certification program, establishing standards and automating certification pathways across teams

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, business administration, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in data governance or management, including 3 years in a leadership role
• Proven philosophy of governance as enablement with experience in building impactful governance programs
• Hands-on experience with Collibra or similar data catalog platforms
• Strong understanding of HIPAA and healthcare data compliance requirements
