Director of Detection Engineering

Job Summary

Seeking a strategic leader, the full-time Director of Detection Engineering will manage multiple sub-teams while aligning detection engineering and threat hunting functions with the company's broader strategy in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set the direction, strategy, and vision for the Detection Engineering & Threat Hunting function, defining team priorities for the next 12-18 months
• Manage at least two teams through other managers, focusing on leadership development and accountability for team performance
• Propose and own plans for budgeting, execution, and hiring, ensuring team growth aligns with overall company growth

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with significant experience managing managers
• Proven ability to lead large, high-priority projects that impact company direction
• Strong understanding of the business model of a Security Operations Center (SOC) and the ability to articulate ROI to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience in empowering teams and building structures that promote problem-solving and scalability
• Visionary thinking with the ability to translate macro threat landscape insights into actionable micro plans for teams
