Director of Developer Productivity

Job Summary

Leading the engineering organization that underpins BILL's developer tooling and service platform, the full-time salaried Director of Developer Productivity will set technical direction, drive organizational change, and enhance the developer experience through AI-native strategies in a remote-eligible role.

Key responsibilities

• Own the strategy and roadmap for the AI-augmented developer platform, focusing on developer tooling and service platform infrastructure
• Drive company-wide change management to standardize engineering practices and enhance security and compliance during development
• Lead and develop a team of engineers and managers, setting high standards for craft and AI tool fluency while ensuring stability and direction

Required qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering or infrastructure, with at least 5 years in a leadership role at the Director level
• Proven track record of implementing and scaling AI-assisted development tools across a large engineering organization
• Extensive technical depth in modern DevOps practices, particularly with Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and GitLab CI/CD platforms
• Strong executive communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical concepts to senior leadership
• Experience in a complex, multi-team engineering environment requiring influence and stakeholder alignment
