Director of Engineering

Job Summary

To drive the execution of a new billing platform, the full-time remote Director of Engineering will own the vision and roadmap while mentoring engineering managers and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Own the vision, roadmap, and execution for Customer.io's custom billing platform
• Partner with leadership across Product, Finance, and Engineering to align billing strategy with company goals
• Make informed build-vs-buy decisions and mentor engineering managers and senior technical leaders

Required qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, with 8+ years leading engineering teams
• Proven track record of taking complex platform initiatives from zero-to-one in a SaaS or marketplace environment
• Deep understanding of SaaS software architecture and cloud-native infrastructure
• Experience managing engineering managers and/or directors for at least 4+ years
• Demonstrated AI-native leadership with a track record of integrating AI-first development practices
