Director of Engineering

Job Summary

Leading the Hosting Platform, the remote full-time Director of Engineering will own the technical direction of infrastructure supporting over 700,000 websites, focusing on reliability, scalability, and performance while managing a high-performing engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap for hosting infrastructure, ensuring reliability and performance across customer sites
• Lead and mentor Engineering Managers and senior engineers, fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement
• Drive architectural decisions for large-scale distributed systems, particularly in edge delivery and database operations

Required qualifications

• 12+ years of engineering experience with at least 3 years managing other managers
• Background in a company that sells cloud services, with a strong understanding of operating customer-dependent infrastructure
• Proven track record leading high-performing engineering teams through technical transformations
• Expert-level understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native infrastructure
• Advanced knowledge of GCP, AWS, or Azure, and container orchestration systems like Kubernetes
