Director of Engineering

Job Summary

Leading the Hosting Platform, the full-time remote Director of Engineering will own the technical direction of infrastructure for over 700,000 websites, focusing on reliability, scalability, and performance while mentoring engineering teams and driving architectural decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap for hosting infrastructure, ensuring reliability and performance across customer sites
• Lead and mentor Engineering Managers and senior engineers to build a high-performing team with a culture of ownership
• Drive architectural decisions for large-scale distributed systems, focusing on edge delivery and database operations

Required qualifications

• 12+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years managing other managers
• Experience at a company providing cloud services with a strong understanding of customer-dependent infrastructure
• Proven track record of leading engineering teams through technical transformations
• Advanced knowledge of GCP, AWS, or Azure and container orchestration systems like Kubernetes
• Expert understanding of distributed systems and large-scale multi-tenant hosting environments
