Director of Engineering

Job Summary

To lead the engineering team in delivering impactful solutions, the remote Director of Engineering will manage project roadmaps, drive team growth, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders while ensuring regulatory compliance and technical direction.

Key responsibilities

• Own delivery by transforming product and regulatory intent into a sequenced, achievable plan while meeting submission and release milestones
• Hire, develop, and lead the engineering team, fostering a culture of ownership and impact
• Collaborate with the Principal Engineer on architecture decisions and manage trade-offs related to build-vs-buy and resource allocation

Required qualifications

• Experience leading engineering teams that have successfully delivered software products
• Strong judgment in architectural decisions and trade-offs, with a hands-on technical background
• Proven ability to deliver under constraints while maintaining team morale
• Familiarity with regulated software environments (e.g., SaMD, HIPAA, FDA pathways)
• Hands-on experience with relevant technology stacks (Python/FastAPI/AWS) or healthcare data standards (FHIR)
