Director of Engineering, ML

Job Summary

Leading a remote team, the full-time Sr. Director of Engineering, ML will manage and grow the AI/ML Engineering team, oversee the design and operation of the core AI/ML platform, and collaborate with the Chief AI Officer to drive product strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow the AI/ML Engineering team while coordinating collaborative projects with data scientists
• Design, deliver, and operate the core AI/ML platform, ensuring reliability and performance at scale
• Create processes to transition proof-of-concept code from Data Science into production-grade services

Required qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 5+ years managing teams of approximately 8+ engineers with hands-on technical leadership
• 8+ years of direct technical experience in backend services
• 3+ years of experience building AI/ML production-grade services at scale
• Strong proficiency in Java, Scala, Rust, or similar backend languages, plus Python
