Director of Learning

Job Summary

To provide strategic and operational leadership for all learning programs, the full-time salaried Director of Learning will drive the Journalism as Literacy approach, design curriculum, and manage a team of contractors in a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead strategic direction for learning programs under the Journalism as Literacy approach
• Design and manage curriculum for a three-year training and publishing progression for incarcerated writers
• Oversee writer assessment and competency attainment across various programs

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience working in a newsroom or teaching journalism, with prison newsroom experience preferred
• 5+ years of experience in an educational leadership role, preferably in prison education
• Expertise in adult learning leadership and curriculum development
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience managing distributed teams
• Fluency in English with a strong grasp of grammar and AP style
