Director of Legal Affairs

Job Summary

Serving as the first in-house counsel, the full-time Director of Legal Affairs will build and lead the legal function to support a privacy-first technology business, advising executives on commercial, product, privacy, compliance, and corporate legal matters while creating scalable processes in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end commercial contracting process, including the creation of scalable contract templates and workflows
• Advise on data privacy strategy, ensuring privacy reviews are integrated early in product and engineering processes
• Act as a trusted partner to leadership on legal risk and support corporate governance, financing, and other legal matters

Required qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state
• In-house legal experience at a technology or SaaS company, preferably in a fast-moving startup environment
• Strong experience in negotiating and managing commercial agreements across the customer and vendor lifecycle
• Deep familiarity with privacy, data protection, and technology-related legal issues
• A practical, business-oriented approach to risk management that aligns with company goals
