Director of Literacy Curriculum

Job Summary

To lead the design and development of foundational literacy instruction, the full-time remote Director of Foundational Literacy will establish instructional architecture, develop curriculum specifications, and ensure alignment with Inkwell's broader educational vision across K-5.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the 0-to-1 instructional design of Inkwell's foundational literacy strand, establishing a coherent vision for skill development across K-5
• Create and maintain the strand's research base, instructional principles, and curriculum design specifications, ensuring alignment with current reading science
• Lead the creation, prototyping, and refinement of foundational literacy materials, assessments, and teacher guidance while collaborating with cross-functional teams

Required Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience designing or shaping a multi-grade foundational literacy curriculum with ownership of instructional architecture
• Deep expertise in early literacy development and the science of reading, with the ability to evaluate research and apply it to curriculum design
• Experience in developing curriculum architecture, instructional routines, and quality criteria at the program level
• Strong understanding of assessment in early literacy and its implications for differentiation and progress monitoring
• Ability to articulate complex pedagogical ideas into clear written specifications for curriculum developers
