Director of Payments and Fraud Operations

Job Summary

Owning the tradeoff between friction and loss, the full-time remote Director of Payments and Fraud Operations will manage fraud strategy, optimize payment processes, and oversee third-party vendor relationships to enhance customer trust and safety while scaling operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement policies to prevent abuse and protect legitimate users
• Oversee fraud strategy across the customer funnel, balancing fraud loss and customer friction
• Optimize payment processes to improve checkout conversion and partner with engineering on performance strategies

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in payments, fraud, risk, or trust & safety operations at a high-growth consumer platform
• Deep understanding of chargeback mechanics, KYC/identity verification, and fraud-vs-conversion economics
• Experience managing vendors such as payment processors and fraud providers
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on unit economics and decision-making under pressure
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across departments effectively
