Director of Platform Development

Job Summary

Leading the design, buildout, and evolution of a modern data platform, the full-time Director of Platform Development will manage core backend services using Node.js and TypeScript, establish platform architecture, and mentor a growing team while operating in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of backend services and data platform components
• Establish and evolve platform architecture, design patterns, and engineering standards
• Hire, mentor, and manage engineers as the team grows and transition from individual contributor to leadership

Required qualifications

• Deep foundation in software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented programming and design patterns
• Solid understanding of data engineering concepts, including lakehouse architectures and ELT pipelines
• Experience building modular or microservice-based systems
• Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring engineers
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
