Director of Product Design

Job Summary

Leading a talented team, the full-time remote Director of Product Design will own the user experience and design standards at Stack Overflow, ensuring high-quality design and research practices while shaping product strategy and advocating for users.

Key responsibilities

• Own and uphold design and research processes, standards, and tooling across the organization
• Shape the user experience for technologists interacting with knowledge and make strategic UX decisions
• Coach and develop designers and researchers, fostering a high-trust, feedback-driven culture

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional design craft
• 4+ years of experience leading design teams in a product company, preferably in B2B or AI-native environments
• Proven track record of people management built on trust and advocacy for team members
• Experience designing for AI-native or AI-augmented products, understanding unique UX challenges
• Comfortable working at the intersection of design and code, with knowledge of functional prototyping
